If you are new to the industry, aspiring to work in procurement and supply or have limited experience in a procurement role then the Level 2 course is ideal for you. The Level 2 is also well utilised by managers/leaders in other professions who require an understanding of how procurement should function and its fundamental impact on business success.

What will I study?
The course comprises of FIVE units, totalling 18 credits.
This unit is worth 6 credits
Upon completion of this unit you will;
- Understand the role of procurement and supply within organisations
- Understand the organisational impact of procurement and supply
- Know how products and services are received from suppliers and delivered to customers
- Know the stages of the sourcing process
- Understand the need for the effective and efficient administration of purchases made within external suppliers
- Know the importance of ethics and responsible procurement in organisations and supply chains

- Know the types of organisations and how they operate
- Know the components of contractual agreements
- Understand sources of information on suppliers and customers
- Understand pricing methods used for the purchasing of goods or services

Upon completion of this unit you will;
- Know the stakeholders in procurement and supply
- Know the key market factors that impact on a procurement and supply function
- Understand the techniques associated with successful and effective communication in procurement and supply
- Know approaches for conflict resolution with stakeholders in procurement and supply
This unit is worth 3 credits
Upon completion of this unit you will;
- Understand the use of systems technology and databases and how they contribute to procurement and supply
- Know the types of systems for supplier selection, ordering and payment
- Know why quality management is important in procurement and supply
This unit is worth 3 credits
Upon completion of this unit you will;
- Know the key elements of effective inventory control
- Understand the principles and processes associated with effective logistics control
- Know how effective expediting can be achieved in procurement and supply
Your CIPS Exams
Each Level 2 unit is assessed via computer-based questions, which allow you to select a response from a list of possible answers (multiple choice, drag and drop, true/false questions).
You can choose whether to sit your exams online using CIPS remote invigilation, or in person at a CIPS examination centre. We can support you in deciding which option is best for you, and you’ll pay CIPS a fee for each exam.
There are 4 examination sessions each year*;
March, May, July, November
*You can sit multiple exams in one session, providing the scheduled time of these exams do not overlap
You will have the opportunity to speak with your study support advisor about your planned examination dates to ensure we can provide you with the right support you require in the timescale you need it.
